High quality French style pricking iron for leather hand stitching
These pricking irons are strong in design and materials. Made in a high grade cold-work die steel with great anti-rust properties. The shaping of the handle enables easy use and a comfortable hand hold. Polished, from handle to prongs enabling smooth withdrawal from the leather. A gorgeous design and handy shape.
The sizes of the irons are vast giving you a great choice to create the perfect stitch for your project. See below for detailed information.
The naming number of each iron identifies how many stitches per inch you will make per use. E.g 10 = 10 stitch per inch. The hole size will vary depending on this also. See below for more information.
We provide two directions for the slant of the stitch - 'Standard' and 'Reverse' direction. This allows you to punch both sides of the leather and add stitch holes to the back of your work if you require this. Please select Reverse for the back side of the work.
The chisels are sharp and with a length of 9.8mm they can pierce leather of approx 4.5mm or 11oz. This therefore will mean less reliance on a stitching awl to make your holes.
10 - 10 stitch per inch (2.7mm spacing) prong width = 1.6mm
9 - 9 stitch per inch (3.0mm spacing) prong width = 1.8mm
8 - 8 stitch per inch (3.38mm spacing) prong width = 2.2mm
